Alice Baldwin - Vater (Sample Only)

about

Alice is a pianist, composer and videographer based in Berlin, Germany, who recently soundtracked the groundbreaking documentary, The End Of Meat. She releases music for solo piano via an extremely popular Soundcloud account. Vater was featured on 1631 Recordings' Piano Cloud I album. Vater has a haunting atmosphere right from the introduction, where the sustain pedal mechanism is audible in the recording, giving the impression of heartbeats, and becomes intensely moving in the extraordinary bars 39-49 and the climactic 62-72.
The title means “Father” in German, and Alice appended the following quotation from poet Nikita Gill to her score: "When someone calls you fragile, thank them. Humans are supposed to be fragile to be able to feel each others pain. It is by becoming soft that this world will change."
